What is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent brow treatment where fine, hair-like strokes are carefully created using a handheld tool and pigment. The result mimics natural brow hairs — soft, realistic, and shaped to suit your unique facial features.
It’s ideal for filling sparse areas, correcting asymmetry, or creating a beautifully defined shape without daily makeup.
What are Combo Brows / Microshading?
Combo Brows (also called Microshading) combine two techniques: microblading strokes at the front of the brow and soft, powdery shading through the middle and tail.
This method gives a fuller, more polished finish while still looking natural — perfect for normal to combination skin types or anyone who wants extra definition.
What are Nano Brows?
Nano Brows use a machine with an ultra-fine needle to create crisp, hair-like strokes with less trauma to the skin.
They’re especially suitable for sensitive, thin, or mature skin and tend to heal very cleanly with excellent pigment retention.
How long do the results last?
On average, results last 12 to 18 months, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Oily skin may experience faster fading.
A colour refresh is recommended around the 12-month mark to keep your brows looking defined and fresh.
Do I need a consultation before booking?
A separate consultation is only needed if you’ve had previous brow tattooing or you’re unsure whether microblading is right for you.
If you’re new and ready to book, we’ll go through a full consultation on the day of your appointment to make sure everything is safe and suited to your needs.
How long does the appointment take?
The first session takes around 2.5 hours, including consultation, brow mapping, numbing, and the full microblading procedure.
If needed, a second “perfecting” session is booked separately and takes about 1.5 hours.
What will my brows look like while healing?
They’ll appear a little darker and more defined in the first few days — this is normal and usually not too bold. Most clients feel completely fine going to work or seeing friends during this phase.
The top layer of skin heals in about 7–14 days, during which the colour will soften and mild flaking may occur. The full result settles over 4–6 weeks as your skin regenerates.
Do I need a touch-up?
Most clients benefit from a second session 6–12 weeks after the first to perfect the shape and colour. This is especially important for first-timers and helps improve long-term pigment retention.
Touch-ups are not included and must be booked separately.
How do you choose the brow shape?
I use the Phi Golden Ratio technique to map your brows according to your natural facial proportions. This ensures a shape that’s balanced, flattering, and completely tailored to you.
We’ll preview the shape together before any pigment is applied.
How do you select the pigment colour?
Pigments are custom-mixed to match your skin undertone, brow hair, and personal preferences. I also consider your skin type, as this can affect how colour heals.
The goal is always to enhance — not overpower — for soft, natural-looking results.
What’s the healing process like?
Healing happens in two phases:
• Initial skin healing (7–14 days): brows soften in colour, and you may notice light dryness or flaking
• Deeper skin regeneration (up to 6 weeks): colour may appear patchy or faded at times before settling
This is completely normal. You’ll receive personalised aftercare instructions to support smooth, even healing.
How do I care for my brows after microblading?
Basic aftercare includes:
• Gently cleansing with damp cotton pads (to remove lymph)
• Avoiding water, sweat, and makeup on the brow area for 7–10 days
• Applying healing balm if advised
• No scratching or picking
Following your aftercare routine closely helps ensure optimal colour retention and smooth healing.
Can I go in the sun or wear makeup after?
For the first 7–10 days, it’s important to avoid direct sun, sweating, and makeup on the brows to support proper healing. After that, light exposure is fine with care.
You don’t need to hide away — just wear a hat or sunglasses outdoors and apply SPF 30+ once your brows have healed. Avoid tanning beds or prolonged sunbathing for the first month to prevent fading.
With the right protection, summer appointments are absolutely doable — and your healed brows will look amazing in every holiday photo!
When will I see the final result?
Brows will begin to soften within the first two weeks and fully settle by around 4–6 weeks. If a touch-up is needed, it’s best scheduled after this time to ensure the skin is ready.
Can you touch up previous work done elsewhere?
If you’ve had previous microblading or brow tattooing, you’ll be considered a new client.
Results vary based on how the old pigment has faded or healed. In some cases, a correction or removal may be needed first. Please email clear photos to jwbrowsbeauty@gmail.com before booking.
Does microblading hurt?
Discomfort is minimal. A numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure to keep you comfortable. Most clients describe it as a light scratching sensation — and many even relax or nap during their appointment!
Can I get microblading if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
No — for your safety, I do not offer microblading during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you become pregnant after booking, just let me know and we’ll reschedule.
Who is not a good candidate for microblading?
You may not be suitable if you:
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have very oily or acne-prone skin in the brow area
• Are prone to keloid scarring
• Have certain medical conditions (e.g. uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding disorders)
• Are on blood thinners or undergoing chemotherapy
We’ll review your health history together before your appointment to ensure you’re a good candidate.
What are the pigments made of?
I use professional-grade pigments made from iron oxide or synthetic minerals, designed specifically for cosmetic tattooing.
They’re chosen for safety, stability, and their ability to fade gradually without turning ashy or red. I only work with trusted brands like Phi and The Perma Academy.
How can I make my results last longer?
• Avoid getting brows wet during healing
• Apply SPF 30+ after healing
• Avoid exfoliants, acids, or retinol near the brow area
• Don’t wax over your brows
• Follow your aftercare closely
Good skincare and sun protection go a long way in keeping your brows looking fresh.
Sarah / Microblading client
"Julia is fabulous. Spent ages doing my research of who to go to. I am a browless gal so I wanted something super natural. She spent ages just getting the shape correct and adjusting things.
At first when my brows were fresh I was super shocked because I’m so used to having basically no brows. But now I am so happy and they look so natural. I feel like my face is complete again. Couldn’t recommend enough. If you’re in doubt, get in touch with her and go for it."
Katya / Microblading & Microneedling client
I have been going to Julia for years now and have tried quite a few of her treatments. Recently Julia advised me to try Phibright Procedure and now I am over the moon with the result! I wish I had it done much earlier.
